I am Virginia Pope. The ninth of eleven children. Someone who always liked to make things like cookies and bread and papier mâché. Someone who would spend hours in high school drawing or cutting film to silk screen posters for events.

I went to Parsons School of Design which included a year in Los Angeles. Once back in New York I began to work, first at design studios then publishing houses where I was an in-house freelancer. Eventually I moved up the river and brought my freelance career with me.

Now, most of my work is done in my home office where I live with a really nice man who married me when we started out in Brooklyn and two cats who have found their forever home. Occasionally our grown children visit and unless it is foggy, the Hudson River is part of our view.

My job is to make things make sense: text and ideas become logos, text and numbers become annual reports, text and illustrations become books. As you can see, most of my projects include text. Except baking, which I still do, and knitting, which is a fresh source of inspiration.

If you need something to make sense, like a logo or newsletter, I can probably help you. Find my contact page, fill out the boxes, and let’s talk.
